Jubei’s forthcoming album is no doubt going to be one of the standouts of the year. Jubei’s label Metalheadz are back in a big way in 2013 – hearing Dom & Roland’s ‘Unofficial Jah’ & ‘Outta Endz’ was a huge highlight of Outlook this year, the tunes are both forthcoming on Goldie’s seminal label and ones to look out for.
In the mean time wrap your ears around these two absolute gems from Jubei, getting a sample release in the build up to his album. Featuring two of D&B’s finest wordsmiths Flowdan & DRS, if this is an indication of what is to come then there is a LOT to be excited about when the album gets here later in the year.
The sampler is available for pre-order here.
A couple of bits that have surfaced from the absolute master that is J.Sparrow in the last week!
First up this beautiful remix of an Annie Drury vocal:
And today an Autumn mix from the man himself. Really great listening on both counts. If you haven’t already check out Author’s new website here. (Author is J.Sparrow & Ruckspin’s collaborative project – their album from earlier this year ranks as one of our favourites of all time).
After a lengthy break to take on Outlook Festival (review in the pipeline) we are back with some fresh D&B badness!
This time round we bring you an artist hailing from the depths of the west country – Modu. You have probably heard some of Modu’s work in the past, he is an accomplished liquid D&B producer with releases on the likes of Proximity & Soul Deep.
This time round he falls in line with the Inform Records sound and once again turns his hand to the darker side of D&B. (He’s no stranger to the dark side; his collaboration with Incoming favourite Xanadu (below) is an absolute banger, fingers crossed for a release.)
The release is a stormer with the intro on Timelapse luring you into a false sense of liquid security before smacking you in the nuts with a monstrous drop. Modu’s drums are as tight as always and combined with the atmospheric vocals and soaring sounds of Window Seat this is an all round solid release.
We look forward to more from Modu as he ventures in this deeper direction – big up to Inform Records for another great release.
